As 2011 comes to a close, we reflect on the many blessings we were able to experience this year. It is with excitement and hopefulness that we look forward to 2012, and ask that our Heavenly Father watch over us and guide us in all our doings. Have a great new year family & friends!

Florida fun!

Adam and I had the opportunity to swim with manatee during break. We travelled to Florida with our boy scout troop, camped out, then travelled to a manatee reserve and got to see, swim, and pet them up close. What a great experience!

Day spent with old people

We spent the afternoon with friends delivering Christmas cards and candy to seniors at a retirement home. What a great opportunity to teach and share the holiday spirit with seniors during this special time. The kids got to meet a guy today that was 102 years old!

Adam and I saw the Falcons beat up the Jacksonville Jaguars 41-14! It was Adam's first Falcons game and he had a blast. Great guys night out!

Lyla the guinea pig...R.I.P

Well she didn't last three months. Tabby's little guinea pig passed away on Halloween. After a fun filled evening of candy taking and general tomfoolery, we came home to Lyla's last moments of life. She had been a little lethargic for a few days and we were going to take her to the vet the next day. Too late. Tabby was devastated. The next day we buried her in our backyard. Little Lyla brought a lot of happiness to the family in such a short time and she will be missed...by the kids.

Happy Birthday USA - Fourth of July 2010!

What a great weekend spent with family and friends! Fourth of July has to be one of my favorite holidays because it celebrates the things that all people hold dear in their lives...God, Family, and Country. To be able to celebrate the birth of our nation by over eating, fun in the sun and blowing things up...what else could you ask for? This year we were able to spend it with family members Jared, Alicia, and Aurora who were visiting from Los Angeles.
While the ladies went to see the new Twilight movie, the boys started the weekend off with a trip to the Starlight Drive-in in Atlanta with all the kids in tow. We attempted a double feature of Toy Story 3 and Prince of Persia. We made it through Toy Story, but halfway through Prince, the kids were done. The little ones had a great time as it seemed that the bathroom was the feature attraction!
Fourth of July Sunday was extra special as we were able to attend the blessing of our niece Reese Autry. We followed it up with BBQ at my place which included the first annual Nathan's Hot Dog eating challenge! Me, Kevin, Ben, and John attempted 5 dogs each in a 5 minute time limit. That's pretty lightweight compared to what we had seen Joey Chestnut just finish at Coney Island, but nonetheless, we gave it our own attempt. I am proud (or ashamed) to report that I was the first winner of the challenge inhaling 5 hot dogs in two minutes flat! Kevin was a dog and a half behind me, and Ben had squished all his dogs together for one massive dog, but was only able to finish about half. John was happy to pull up the rear in fourth. A night of fireworks capped of a fantastic day with the family!
Monday all the families went to Helen Georgia and tubed down the Chattahoochee. Most of us returned home burned and tired, but a lot of great memories were made and that is what it is all about. Thankfully I have an extra day to recover from the weekend before getting back to the grind. This Fourth of July will be one we will remember for a long time to come!

Skinny Mini turns four today!

Wow! Our little Kyla is four today! We are excited for her and the great new things that she will be able to experience this year including pre-school in August! If you look back 4 years on this blog, you will see that we weren't even sure Kyla would make it past the first week of life. She was a sickly 3.5 lbs at her lowest weight, jaundiced, and not eating. We really thought we might lose her. But through fervent prayer and with some unorthodox feeding methods, she bounced back quickly! We knew then she was going to be a feisty, strong little girl and we have not been disappointed. She is our ray of sunshine and we love her greatly! Happy Birthday Kyla!

Wow! The Bahamas trip was way to fast and I didn't get a lot of time to "play" but I was able to satisfy my craving to get to the ocean for the time being. I had to take this picture as proof that I (me) was actually there! I took a ton of pictures, but I'm not in any of them. The downside of traveling by yourself. The upside though was no curfew and casinos!! Just kidding...

Fun day with the kids at Heroes Comic Con in Charlotte NC!

Today I took Tabitha, Adam, and Rebecka to Charlotte NC for the Heroes Con. It has been probably 8 years since I've been to a convention and really the first for the kids. They seemed to have a blast! Adam was amazed at how much merchandise was on the convention floor. He uttered the words "there is so much stuff down there I think I'm going to barf!".
We stayed for the afternoon getting a few signatures and buying some comics and action figures. After that, we went to Jack in the Box....Hallelujah!! Since NC is the closest Jack in the Boxes to Atlanta in the South, it has been over two years since I have had their mouth watering tacos and Ultimate Cheeseburger! The last time I had them was up in Washington when I visited my parents. I am already anxiously awaiting Sunday afternoon lunch as I smuggled 6 tacos across two state borders...it is well worth the potential heart attack I may suffer after eating them all!
